Manchester United have finally caught a break with their injury crisis after two key players were welcomed back to first-team training on Thursday afternoon.

Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford were confirmed to be back on the training pitch at Carrington following their injury lay-offs. Martinez has been missing for the Reds since the 1-1 draw with Brentford and has only made 11 appearances all season due to a culmination of injuries.

As for Rashford, the winger was injured in the penalty shootout victory over Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-finals and has not featured since. The Argentine centre-back could be a doubt to return on Sunday considering his considerable time spent on the sidelines but Rashford should hopefully be fit enough for a place in the squad to face Arsenal this weekend.

The hope is that Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay and Luke Shaw could all play some role in the game this weekend. Fernandes rarely misses matches but his wrist injury sustained at Wembley Stadium finally caught up with him and meant he missed the heavy lost to Crystal Palace.

McTominay has been missing with an unknown injury for the last few weeks but the hope was that he would be back in training last Saturday in preparation for the Old Trafford game eight days later. As for Shaw, it is unclear whether or not he has been reintroduced to the team sessions but he is back on the pitch.

Question marks remain regarding Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial, Victor Lindelof and Willy Kambwala's return dates but it is known that Harry Maguire's earliest return date will be the FA Cup final at best and Tyrell Malacia shall have to wait until next season to return to the team.
