Report: Two PL clubs set to challenge Spurs for Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson

TEAMtalk have now revealed that Tottenham Hotspur would have to see off competition from both Manchester United and Aston Villa to land Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson this summer.

Over the past few weeks, various Italian outlets have claimed that Spurs are battling the likes of Inter Milan and Juventus for Gudmundsson’s signature this summer (SportItalia).

However, TEAMtalk now allege that Spurs also have to contend with competition from closer to home, with both Man Utd and Villa plotting moves for the Iceland international.

Tottenham have competition for Albert Gudmundsson

The report says that amidst the growing interest in the versatile forward, Genoa are willing to let him leave and would listen to proposals of around €30m (£25.8m).

It is revealed that Spurs have the ‘inside track’ on Gudmundsson’s situation due to their excellent relationship with Genoa.

The publication explains that the two clubs are due to meet shortly to discuss Djed Spence’s future, with the Lilywhites expected to use that opportunity to also make progress on a deal for the 26-year-old.

It seems like Tottenham have several aces up their sleeve in this transfer pursuit and one would expect them to be able to see off the competition for Gudmundsson’s signature and conclude a deal for the forward quite early in the transfer window.
