Benfica’s midfield star Joao Neves

Neves has had an incredible rise at Benfica. He came up the ranks at some pace and was promoted to their first team at the start of 2023. The teenage defensive midfielder has gone from strength to strength since breaking into the first team. He has already established himself as a mainstay in the team and his impressive performances have put in on the radar of multiple top clubs from across Europe.

The Portuguese international’s contract with Benfica runs until the summer of 2028. While the club are aware of the amount of interest in him, they want to keep him in their squad for at least another season. But, there is a €120 million release clause in his deal which could be triggered by one of the European giants to make things happen.

Manchester United want to sign Neves

Manchester United are one of the clubs keen on signing the 19-year-old star. The Red Devils are planning to reinforce their midfield in the summer and feel Neves could be an ideal signing for them. He could help them in the short as well as the long term.

Casemiro is not in the plans of the INEOS going forward. the 32-year-old hasn’t been performing at the expected levels and they are looking to move him on ahead of next season. They look at Neves as a replacement for the Brazilian international.

The Red Devils have been following the midfield sensation for months now and they are now all set to make the move to sign him. According to the report, they will soon table an offer for his services. While Benfica want him in their squad for next season, United are looking to test their resolve.
