Man United to compete with Aston Villa for £8m-rated defender

Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing the Mozambique defender Reinildo.

The 30-year-old Atletico Madrid defender is expected to be on the move this summer and he will be a free agent next year.

The Spanish giants could be under pressure to sell him in the coming weeks and Manchester United are keen on securing his signature. However, they are not the only Premier League club keen on Reinildo and they will face competition from Aston Villa, as per Sun.

The 30-year-old left-back could be available for a fee of around £8 million and it remains to be seen where he ends up.

Manchester United need more depth in the left-back department. Luke Shaw has had his fair share of injury problems and Tyrell Malacia has barely featured this season. The Red Devils need more quality in that area and the Atletico Madrid defender would be a superb acquisition for a reasonable price.

Similarly, players like Alex Moreno and Lucas Digne have been linked with moves away from the West Midlands club and Aston Villa will need to bring in an alternative.

The La Liga defender would be a quality acquisition and it remains to be seen whether the West Midlands club can convince him to snub move to Manchester United and join them instead.

Aston Villa are well placed to secure Champions League qualification for the next season and that could give them an advantage in the transfer battle.

Both clubs would be exciting destinations for the player and it remains to be seen where the 30-year-old ends up. He is at the peak of his powers right now and a move to the Premier League will be an interesting opportunity.

He will look to prove himself in English football and establish himself as a key player for Manchester United or Aston Villa.
