As always, there is mixed injury news coming out of Manchester United, per the latest press conference.

This season has been farcical when it comes to injuries. It seems you cannot get one player back without losing another.

The latest injury update is no different, with injury prone summer signing Mason Mount suffering yet another blow.

Erik ten Hag provided the update at his press conference ahead of the fixture with Arsenal this coming Sunday.

Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount update

There was positive news this week with Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford pictured in training as they step up their comebacks from injury.

There was no Bruno Fernandes, however, the club captain is now on course to return along with Scott McTominay.

Mason Mount, however, is back on the sidelines yet again after picking up another injury.

Erik ten Hag explained: “Bruno was on the pitch and Scott McTominay was on the pitch, so there are some players returning.

“But also I have to report that unfortunately, yesterday, Mason Mount fell out [of contention]. So he will not be available for Sunday.”

This is a serious blow for Mount who started his first game of 2024 this past week. He has had a wretched season, infrequently available, and anonymous when he does play.

Lisandro Martinez not ready

Erik ten Hag has said he has rejected Lisandro Martinez‘s plea to play against Arsenal, unwilling to rush the defender back, again.

He said: “Yesterday Licha came to me and he wanted to play on Sunday against Arsenal, but he is not ready yet.

“He needs a little bit more time to go through the process.”

This means United could be looking at Jonny Evans and Casemiro in defence again, unless the manager decides to try Scott McTominay at the position.

There is better news over Marcus Rashford, with Ten Hag commenting: “Rashy, of course, he trained this morning as well, and we have to see how he recovered from this.

“But I think it looks quite good and I hope he can tomorrow make the next training and then see if he is available for Sunday.”

Latest injury situation

Manchester United have a very full injury list and a tough run of fixtures. The club is trying to balance caution and a need for no further setbacks impacting the FA Cup final, and the need to field a competitive team right now.
