Andre Onana faces an uncertain future at Manchester United following a string of underwhelming performances.
Manchester United’s hopes of playing in the Champions League rely on winning the Europa League this season, but Andre Onana has single-handedly added extra nerves to Thursday’s Lyon clash.
In the first leg, Onana made two unforgivable mistakes that allowed Lyon to escape with a 2-2 draw. Now, everything is to play for at Old Trafford.
It led to Ruben Amorim dropping Onana from the matchday squad for Sunday’s 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United, although Altay Bayindir failed to impress as his replacement.

Andre Onana was left in ‘shock’ at Man United pay cut
When Onana joined United for £44m, he had recently impressed in the Champions League final for Inter Milan.
The Red Devils were confident they were signing one of Europe’s top goalkeepers, but Onana flopped for United in the Champions League under Erik ten Hag, dropping out of the competition in the group stage after finishing last.
According to The Athletic, Onana suffered a “shock to the system” when his pay was cut 25% in the summer as a result of missing out on Champions League qualification.
There is a similar clause across the entire squad, although Luke Shaw is one exception having negotiated a smaller pay cut if United miss out on Champions League football.
It is understood that Onana is earning £120,000 per week at United with his contract valid until 2028.
Andre Onana opened Saudi talks after Man United pay slash
Just last month, reports suggested that Onana was wanted by Saudi Pro League clubs.
It is no secret that Amorim wants to sign new goalkeepers at United, and Onana could even be replaced this summer if the Portuguese coach wants a new No.1.
According to The Athletic report above, Onana held a conversation with sporting director Dan Ashworth about his Champions League pay cut last summer.
In the wake of United exiting the Champions League, Onana opened dialogue with the Saudi Pro League about a potential move that would cut short his time at Old Trafford.

The report claims some at United believed that Onana was interested in what might be on offer, with Saudi clubs more than willing to match or better his wages.
However, the Cameroon international stuck around and Onana said he is not worried about his future earlier this season. That could change rapidly when the summer window opens.
