Frenkie de Jong has reportedly told his Barcelona teammates that he could be leaving the club this summer.

De Jong has been Manchester United's top transfer target since Erik ten Hag arrived at Old Trafford. United agreed a fee in principle with the Catalan giants for the 25-year-old in June, however progress on the deal has ended up stalling.

It was understood that this was down to a deferral of wages owed to De Jong by Barca. De Jong was therefore unwilling to leave Camp Nou while he had not received the money on his current contract.

At the end of last week, the Manchester Evening News understands that the United hierarchy came to the understanding that they needed to look at alternative options to De Jong. However, according to reports by Diario SPORT, this decision may have been a premature one.

They claim that De Jong has informed his Barcelona teammates that he could be leaving Catalonia imminently and that the 25-year-old is also now considering the departure.

Elsewhere, Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic is reportedly interested in a move to Manchester United.

Sky Sports understands that sources close to the forward believe Kalajdzic is keen on starting a new challenge away from the Bundesliga club. They add that the Austrian is wanting to move to Old Trafford to help progress his career.

Kalajdzic missed the first four months of last season with a shoulder injury. However, on his return he managed to bag six goals in 15 appearances for the German outfit.
