Manchester United will hold more talks with Adrien Rabiot's agent mother Veronique on MONDAY over a £15m move... with the salary demands remaining the key stumbling block to the deal being completed

  • Manchester United have struggled to attract several top players this summer
  • They may find it even harder to persuade stars after losing 4-0 to Brentford
  • Erik ten Hag is attempting to bring in Juventus' French midfielder Adrien Rabiot
  • The news comes with Frenkie de Jong's transfer looking increasingly unlikely

Manchester United will hold further talks with Adrien Rabiot's mother Veronique on Monday.

Football director John Murtough met Veronique in Turin on Friday and scheduled to reconvene for talks regarding her son's personal terms at the start of the week.

A £15million fee is already in place between United and Juventus for the France international midfielder.

United also want to add a striker and winger and have a number of options under consideration. PSV Eindhoven's Cody Gakpo and Stuttgart's Sasa Kalajdzic remain on the list.

United will have more funds to play with if their move for Frenkie de Jong collapses amid concerns he will join Chelsea instead.

The need for new players at United became clearer than ever on Saturday night, as Erik ten Hag's side found themselves 4-0 down to Brentford after just 35 minutes.

It was the first time the club had conceded four first half goals in the Premier League era.

Speaking after the game, Ten Hag told Sky Sports: 'I think we need new players.

'We need quality players and we are working on that. We will do everything we can to bring them in.'
