Manchester United have been given the green light for Bryan Mbeumo transfer - on one condition
Man United are being linked with the prospect of signing Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo ahead of this summer's transfer window.
Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has already indicated the club will be prepared to sell attacker Bryan Mbeumo this summer amid fresh reports linking him with a move to Manchester United.
Multiple news outlets have credited United with interest in the Cameroonian international amid their quest to strengthen their attacking options in this summer's transfer window.
Mbeumo was one of the best performers in the Premier League this season, scoring 20 goals and registering seven assists in 38 league appearances for the Bees
Reports have indicated that it could take an offer in the region of £50million to extract the 25-year-old, who has scored 29 Premier League goals since the beginning of last season, from the Gtech Community Stadium.
But given that excellent goalscoring record, a fee of £50m for a player of Mbeumo's quality and consistency, in the current market, is a respectable price, should the reported figures be accurate.
Frank, who has also been linked with United himself in the past, was quizzed on Mbeumo's future at the start of this month and he admitted that the Bees will be "open" to cashing in on the former Troyes man if an acceptable offer is put on the table.
"I'm the head coach, I want my best players to stay forever," Frank told Sky Sports. "I know that Bryan is very happy being here at Brentford, he's thriving, doing well and playing fantastic. What happens in the future? I don't know.
"I've said many times: we are a selling club. But at the same time we have to reinforce that there are 10 clubs in the world who aren't selling clubs.
"So, of course, if the right price - and that's going to be expensive - is coming, then I'm sure the club will be open for it. But I'm very happy he's here, and I'm convinced that Bryan will still be happy playing football here."
Having entertained offers for key players in the past, such as Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins, Ezri Konsa and Said Benrahma, Brentford have proven they will not keep hold of players for the sake of it, meaning if an attractive offer for Mbeumo comes along they consider too good to turn down, they will almost certainly accept it.
Brentford, just like Brighton & Hove Albion, have mastered the art of recruitment in recent years, successfully cashing-in on players at the right juncture and bringing in a replacement that more often than not steps up to replace their predecessor.
With Matheus Cunha, who has a £62.5m release clause and Liam Delap, who can be bought for £30m this summer, firmly on United's radar, player sales will be key to any hopes United have of signing Mbeumo.
But with Frank already admitting that Brentford will sell the Cameroonian if an attractive offer comes their way, United can never say never.
