Marcus enjoying attacking link-ups

Marcus Rashford says he's enjoying Manchester United's attacking link-ups, after he came off the bench to combine with Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Martial for the Reds' three goals in Cyprus.

The 24-year-old entered the fray at the break with United somehow trailing Omonia Nicosia despite dominating the first 45.

Fernandes fired a superb ball forward for Rashford to collect and equalise brilliantly eight minutes after coming on, before he set up Martial to fire our second. Rashford then slotted home after swapping passes with Ronaldo for what proved to be our crucial third goal.

Reflecting on United's attacking options, Marcus spoke to club media and BT Sport, saying: "I think we have a lot of players in the squad that can play in a few different positions. It's a big positive to have: if we have injuries and things like that, you never what can happen and you have to be at your best to play in whatever position is needed.

Rashford: It was important to win this game

Marcus Rashford explains the significance of United's comeback effort and the three points against Omonia Nicosia...

"I think, always, scoring goals is about confidence. It’s about being in front of goal, getting chances, creating chances and just being in and around the box," he added. "That’s where I always score my goals, so I have to get in those areas and be more dangerous as often as I can.”

Asked about the contribution of Martial, who also scored twice as a substitute against Manchester City last weekend, Rashford declared: "He is a massive player for us. He has been for a long time and, when he's at it, he is an unbelievable player and I've always enjoyed playing with him.

"It was nice to link up with him today to score his goal and we'll be looking to do that more and more. I think it's good for him. We've both been injured – he's been injured a little bit longer than me so it's good for him to get minutes, and for the second game in a row he's come on and scored goals and made an impact."
Despite a couple of scares from the Cypriots, the 3-2 win was the perfect riposte to Sunday's derby defeat and Rashford says the Reds are focused on securing another positive result at Goodison Park come Sunday evening.

"Any game is the next opportunity to be better than your last, so we massively needed this after the weekend. To come here in difficult circumstances, it is a positive result for us, and we just need to tidy up the mistakes.

“We have to bounce back in the league now. We have to pick up points and keep trying to get as high up the table as we can really. It’s quite early on, and there’s a lot of breaks in the season this year, so it’s important we pick up points at every opportunity we can.”
