‘A one-trick pony’ – Paul Scholes slams £85.5m winger Antony AGAIN after Man Utd sneak Europa League win against Omonia

PAUL SCHOLES has taken another shot at Manchester United new-boy Antony by labelling him a “one-trick pony”.

And fellow winger Jadon Sancho also received a blast again from the Old Trafford legend after their displays in the narrow Europa League win at Omonia Nicosia.

Scholes slammed the pair’s performances after United were hammered 6-3 in the derby against Manchester City at the weekend.

And after watching his old club come from behind to claim a nervy 3-2 victory against the Cypriot minnows thanks to subs Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, the 47-year-old let rip again.

After boss Erik ten Hag admitted his wide-men were “too static”, Scholes told BT Sport viewers: “He was right about the wingers being static.

“Sancho never really runs in behind. He needs a fast left-back really or a centre forward to link up with and he hasn’t really got that at the moment.

Antony on the other side as well, he doesn’t run in behind.

“He seems to be a bit of a one-trick pony.

“He’s always cutting inside and either passing back to the full-back or having a shot.

“You’re thinking he needs to develop a little bit. It’s still early days for him, we know that.”

Sancho was replaced at half time by Rashford, while Antony was taken off for Fred in the 74th-minute.

United forked out £85.5m to Ajax for Brazilian Antony, 22, in the summer and he scored on his Premier League debut against Arsenal.

He also netted against City, but Sun Sport exclusively revealed how he had ignored defensive orders from Ten Hag to track back before the mauling.

Meanwhile, fellow 22-year-old Sancho has scored three goals in 10 outings so far for United this term.
