Erik ten Hag may well be looking to strengthen nearly all areas of the Manchester United squad when he arrives in the summer, including the frontline.

Cristiano Ronaldo may have netted 24 times this season but his fellow attackers have largely underwhelmed with little indication as to who may succeed the 37-year-old when he moves on. The main bulk of ten Hag’s budget will likely be spent on midfielders with four key central members leaving next month, among whom is Paul Pogba.

So when trying to bolster other areas of the pitch, the Dutchman may be looking for cut-price options. A number of talented forwards are at risk of being relegated with their teams this season.

If their clubs don’t survive the drop, these players will be forcing a move away to a new club. United may want to take advantage of this and lure them to Old Trafford with the view of mounting a top four quest again next season.

MEN Sport looks at three players who ten Hag may wish to recruit.

Richarlison

Although tipped to be the club most likely to survive, Everton are not yet out of danger just yet. Their best performer this season has undoubtedly been Richarlison, who has scored nine of their 39 league goals this season - almost a quarter of his team's total amount.

Even if the Toffees do survive relegation, United may still wish to make a punt for the Brazilian, who will likely want to make a Goodison Park exit this summer. Richarlison offers versatility too, being able to play out wide or as the main man up front when needed.

Sasa Kalajdzic

The attacker, who is currently at German strugglers Stuttgart, is the tallest player in the Bundesliga at 6ft7'. He offers a different type of outlet for United, having won 149 aerial duels this season.

Kalajdzic looks to be getting back to form too after a horrible shoulder injury that kept him out of the first half of the season. He has scored five goals in nine games since March, following on from his tally of 16 from last season.

Raphinha

Out of the endangered Premier League sides, Leeds United’s Raphinha has been the name most linked with a United switch. Reports claimed that Barcelona were interested in a January transfer and now the winger said to be eager to leave Elland Road in the summer.

His 10 goals and three assists have caught the eye of several English clubs, but many argue that Raphinha would be more suited to ten Hag’s style of play, pointing to his work with Hakim Ziyech while at Ajax. If the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford leave, he could be an ample replacement.
