Wout Weghorst is the new boy at Manchester United and is celebrating after scoring his first goal for the club in midweek.

He is beginning to settle in, and is comfortable with his role, leading the line and playing alongside more well-established stars like Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes.

One player in particular has caught Weghorst’s eye, United’s freescoring number 10, with Rashford netting twice in the last three games.

Weghorst’s central role allows Rashford to play his preferred position from the left, and with 18 goals already this season, Erik ten Hag rightly sees no reason to change what’s working.

Weghorst praises Rashford

Weghorst likes what he has seen from new teammate Marcus Rashford, with his quality on the pitch, and as a person.

He was quoted by The MEN: “You see the great run he’s in to, he’s delivering, every week you see it in training, he’s got a lot of quality.

“He’s also a really good guy, a really open guy, he was the first one who came to me when I scored my goal.”

Rashford, 25, has 111 goals for Manchester United, and is the club’s highest active goalscorer.

He has just been nominated for the Premier League player of the month award, plus the goal of the month, for his strike against Arsenal.

Weghorst actually has more club career goals than Rashford, and any other player in the squad, and now has his first as a United player.

The on loan striker is aware his move to Old Trafford is only temporary, but would like it to be longer. He is aware he has to prove he deserves it.

He said: “It’s a massive club so I will try to do everything as good as I can and if it will work out it will be a good option.”
