Arsenal and Manchester United are reportedly ready to shell out €40 million to sign Gabri Veiga, a target for Real Madrid.

According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Arsenal and Manchester United are among the clubs willing to pay €40 million to sign Gabri Veiga. The Spanish midfielder has a release clause worth that sum. And he is also the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a move in the summer transfer window.

Gabri Veiga is enjoying a rise to stardom amid a breakthrough season with Celta Vigo. The 20-year-old made his first-team debut in September 2020 but had to bide his time for two years. However, he has become a pivotal figure in the ongoing campaign, scoring several crucial goals for Celta Vigo.

The Spanish midfielder has amassed nine goals and three assists in 25 appearances thus far this term. And Veiga’s progress has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Manchester United. But any suitor will need to trigger the release clause, worth €40 million, to secure his services.

Real Madrid will prioritise signing Jude Bellingham in the summer transfer window. But the English international is also a target for several English clubs, including Manchester United. Veiga is thus an option worth considering. And recent reports have claimed that Real Madrid recently met Celta Vigo to discuss a deal for the 20-year-old.

As for Arsenal, Mikel Arteta wants a new midfielder in his squad next season. Declan Rice is among the top target for the Gunners, who wish to create a formidable squad to compete on all fronts. But Veiga will help bolster the attacking side of things, competing with Granit Xhaka and Martin Odegaard.

Meanwhile, Manchester United will enter the market to find a long-term partner for Casemiro. While Christian Eriksen has been top-notch this season, he is on the wrong side of 30. And Veiga has popped up on Manchester United’s radar as a long-term midfield solution. In addition, with Frenkie de Jong uninterested in moving to Old Trafford, the Spaniard is a viable target.

The report claims that Arsenal and Manchester United are ready to pay €40 million to sign Veiga. In addition, Liverpool and Newcastle United will also be willing to fork out such a sum. But it is unclear if Real Madrid will cough up €40 million to secure the Spanish midfielder’s services this summer.
