Portuguese right-back Diogo Dalot has officially signed a new contract extension at Manchester United.

The club announced Diogo Dalot‘s new deal this afternoon, extending a deal which was previously scheduled to end in 2024.

Diogo Dalot new contract length

Dalot’s new deal runs until 2028 with an option to extend to 2029. Manchester United signed Dalot from Porto in 2018.

He has made 107 appearances for the club, having spent a season out on loan at AC Milan in 2020/21.

Dalot told the club website: “Playing for Manchester United is one of the highest honours that you can have in football.

“We have shared some fantastic moments over the past five years, and I’ve grown so much and my passion for this incredible club has only increased since the day that I joined.”

Spanish newspaper Sport had reported last year that Barcelona were keen on Dalot, however, this never really seemed like a realistic option considering Dalot’s happiness at United.

The only question mark had arisen over Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s return to form, which has seen Dalot slip back from clear first choice in the first half of the season, to splitting time 50/50.

He is clearly happy enough with the situation, committing his future to United and manager Erik ten Hag.

Dalot added: “As a group of players, we all feel like we are at the start of a special journey right now.”

Diogo Dalot congratulated

Diogo Dalot posted on Instagram after his new contract at Manchester United was announced, and he received plenty of love.

Teammates David de Gea, Lisandro Martinez and loanee Marcel Sabitzer were among those to reach out to congratulate him.

So far, nothing from Dalot’s close pal Cristiano Ronaldo, but there’s still time…
