Erik ten Hag called Manchester United's tactic of crossing from deep for Cristiano Ronaldo "stupid" and made it clear the players did not follow his rules in the 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa.
After a punishing schedule, to see a result like this isn't too much of a surprise but there were some real tactical and player issues that were unexpected, including odd decisions from Ten Hag himself.
